The appointment takes fifteen minutes. We give you the reading in writing so you can take it to your doctor, or keep it to compare against the next one — a single reading says very little; two, spaced apart, start to say something. If you want a fasting glucose reading, book early in the morning and come before breakfast. One thing we want to be clear about: this is a check, not a diagnosis. It does not replace full blood work or a visit to your doctor. If a reading comes back outside the expected range we will not give you any treatment: we will tell you to have it looked at, and if it should be looked at soon, we will say that too.
