Cervical cancer screening comes to pharmacies
The sample can be self-collected, with no appointment. The rollout runs to 2029.
The Catalan health department and the Council of Pharmacists' Colleges are rolling out a programme so that the cervical cancer screening sample can be self-collected, without an appointment.
The rollout is gradual: it began in 2025 and is due to cover all of Catalonia by 2029, so it is not yet at every pharmacy. The model has changed too: from screening on request to population screening, by invitation.
