Catalonia's bowel cancer screening programme invites people aged 50 to 69 every two years. From the last quarter of 2026 it is being extended, gradually, up to age 74, in line with European recommendations.
The test is simple and free: you collect a sample at home and return it to a pharmacy, which sends it to the reference laboratory. In the Barcelona and Girona areas, the kit is handed out and collected at pharmacies themselves.
